‘Lunch with…’ on Monday 11th November. Trish will be talking about her new book Just Breathe and the numerous other writing projects she is involved with, as well as talking about her life and her role as a long-term carer.
Just Breathe - NEW BOOK

Fantastic news – Trish has a new book coming out in December, published once more by the fabulous Five Leaves in Nottingham. The book is called JUST BREATHE and charts the experiences of Trish’s family as her two sons navigate the path from normal breathing to using a ventilator. The brilliant cover is by Rebecca Evans. The launch will take place on Tuesday 3rd December, at Nottingham Central Library.
Hardwick Hall - Apple Day
19th October 2024
Trish was one of a team taking on the role of storyteller at Hardwick Hall’s Apple day event. Trish told the story of The Apple of Discord. She was joined in apple story telling by James Munro & Emma Burton, Mark Kerrison sang
Apple Wassail songs between the stories. Several families joined us in the Cart Shed for this fun event organised by NT events manager Elle Maxwell-Wood.

Ilkeston Festival

Trish gave a reading from her book Beyond Caring, at Ilkeston Library and a short talk about writing as part of Ilkeston Festival.
There was then a tea and biscuits and a lovely Q & A session with audience members. A big thanks to Caroline Greatorex for organising.

Hardwick hall Second Hand Bookshop

Trish has become a volunteer at the lovely Hardwick Hall, working in their Second hand bookshop – which last year raised a staggering £35,000 to support the work at Hardwick. Trish has also joined the creative writing and storytelling group at Hardwick and has volunteered to be a storyteller on Apple Day.
Newark Book Festival

Trish read at Newark Book Festival. A very appreciative audience at 10am on a Sunday morning! Fellow poetry readers also read – Fiona Theokritoff, Julie Burke, Julie Gardner, also in the picture and the ever-supportive Pippa Hennessey from Five Leaves.

Reading from her archive and her current pamphlet, Beyond Caring, Trish will talk about the positive impact writing has had on her life and the unexpected opportunities that this has opened up.

Hedgehog Hospital

Trish is publishing a poem on the first day of each month on Charlie’s Place Facebook page. Each poem will tell the story of an animal that has been rescued by Charlie’s Place. The second poem, “Hedgehog Hospital” can be read here, posted on 1st April 2024. Charlie’s Place has helped 300 hedgehogs since it opened in 2018.

Trish is delighted to have had 3 poems published this month in the Quarterly magazine “The Cannon’s Mouth”. (Issue 91, March 2024). The poems included in the magazine are: Scorched Earth 1970, Tea for Two and School Bus Stop to Home.
Poet in a Pigsty
14th March 2024
Trish has become the Poet in Residence of the wildlife sanctuary, Charlie’s Place, in Derbyshire. She visited the sanctuary in February and met Jonathon (pictured) who became the subject of the first poem.
Trish will be publishing a poem on the first day of each month on Charlie’s Place Facebook page. Each poem will tell the story of an animal that has been rescued by Charlie’s Place. The first poem “Have You Seen Jonathon” can be read here , posted on 1st March 2024. It is hoped that the poems will help to tell the stories of these lovely creatures. Look out for the poem about the 300 hedgehogs Charlie’s Place has helped since it opened in 2018.

Muscular Dystrophy UK publish a blog based on Trish’s article Writing for Well-Being – It Works for Me This blog discusses how writing helps Trish to meet the day-to-day challenges of being a long-term carer and suggests others might find it useful and fun.
Como Boy to Coram Girl

Following the successful first outing at Belper Folk Club, Trish and Mark’s show “Como Boy to Coram Girl” was performed at Derby Folk Festival Weekend. The show explores stories from Trish’s family history in nine original songs by Trish linked with story telling. The show was performed by Trish Kerrison: storyteller & songwriter, Mark Kerrison: guitar, vocals, musical arrangements, Fi Fraser: vocals and harmonies.
Plants and Prayers Research Project
29th September 2023
Along with fellow researchers, Trish presented her creative writing responses to a research project run by Nottingham University Manuscripts & Special Collections department. For a few months over the summer, volunteers pored through ancient housekeeping books and recorded valuable data about household remedies. Trish, and writing collaborator, Denise Morton, read their fictional series of 18th Century letters based on an unusual remedy for dropsy. Trish’s poem ‘The Ballad of the Cherry Tree‘ appears in the anthology of the project.
Beyond Caring

Trish’s pamphlet Beyond Caring was launched by Five Leaves Publications as part of Nottinghamshire’s annual Inspire Poetry Festival. Trish’s poems explore the realities of caring for children who live with the condition Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Trish was supported at this sell-out event by fellow poets Jane Bluett, Teresa Forrest, Roy Haines-Young, Cathy Grindrod and Pippa Hennessey.
Eco-poetry Competition Winner
3rd June 2023
Trish’s poem Made It was the winner of Matt Black’s poetry competition in conjunction with Low Carbon Leamington’s Eco Event. The theme of the poem was recycling and sustainability. Trish’s poem Made It describes an unusual way of recycling a blanket storage bag. An edited version of this poem is included in Trish’s pamphlet Beyond Caring.
